The way we relate to, perceive and interact with the library is slowly changing. Gone will be the days of the library as a repository of dusty books. Why would a customer physically visit a library to obtain information when it will all be available online. Library collections will be “clouded”. Customers will read their books using an Ebook reader.
Librarians will need to reinvent themselves. They will need to be teachers in this new environment, who understand the technology and can facilitate its successful use by the customers. Talking about the words “Library” and “Librarian”, they will need to be dumped. They conjour a sense of negativity and cannot be carried into the future.
